New Conan The Barbarian Movie!

Variety.com have informed us that Warner Bros. Pictures has set Boaz Yakin the challenge of writing and directing CONAN THE BARBARIAN, a brand new take on the Robert E. Howard-created character.

WB are looking for an early 2007 production start for the film, which will be produced by Irving Azoff, Jon Jashni, Richard Alexander and Akiva Goldsman. Peter Sederowsky and Fredrik Malmberg of Paradox Entertainment, the company that controls rights to the Howard estate.

Yakin, best known for his directing work on REMEMBER THE TITANS, has been a fan of Howard's Conan series since childhood and came up with a version that impressed the studio.

Creating a new Conan film instead of making KING CONAN, with Schwarzenegger, is going to leave a lot of Conan and Arnold fans seething. We will no doubt be left with a new star. Fingers crossed that this movie will not stink and some sort of Schwarzenegger cameo perhaps!
