Arnold off to China!
Governor Schwarzenegger's trade mission to China (scheduled for mid-April) has been pushed back to May, the governor's office announced yesterday. Apparently, the trip could conflict with Schwarzenegger's efforts to qualify measures for a special election later this year.
Schwarzenegger had planned to visit Beijing , Shanghai and Hong Kong throughout 16-23 April, to pitch California products and encourage Chinese investment in the state. But Schwarzenegger is also engaged in a petition drive aimed at qualifying at least four measures for the ballot and the deadline for completing that effort could conflict with the China mission.
The trip will be rescheduled for sometime in May, said Rob Stutzman, Schwarzenegger's director of communications. The actual dates are still being worked out, he said, but an announcement is expected this week.
