'The Terminator' 20th Anniversary!

Today is the 20th anniversary of The Terminator! Yes, 20 years ago today, on October 26th 1984, film audiences were introduced to the bad ass, gun toting cyborg we all know so well!

Described as “the movie of the year!” by TIME Magazine, The Terminator re-invented science fiction movies, and took them to a whole new level!

Spawning two sequels and gathering an army of millions of fans worldwide, The Terminator became one of the most popular movie franchises ever, as well as propelling the careers of writer director James Cameron, and star Arnold Schwarzenegger.

What started out as a nightmare one night for a feverish Cameron, turned out to be his big break into the movie business, paving the way for the likes of Aliens, True Lies, Titanic, and of course, T2: Judgment Day.

In 2004, “I'll be back” was voted the most popular movie catchphrase of the last 20 years… “excellent!”

The cyborg from the future has been imitated in many movies, including Chuck Sherman, a.k.a. “The Shermanator” in American Pie and American Pie 2.

Star of all 3 Terminator movies, Schwarzenegger was invited to a Florida nudist resort to help celebrate the anniversary. The Governor's Office thanked the organizers for the invitation but couldn't promise that the Terminator would be able to attend the clothing-optional visit to the Paradise Lakes Resort. Schwarzenegger's T3 co-star, Kristanna Loken , was also invited.
